What you need to know

Expectations

General expectations: Sessions typically last about 2 hrs. Ideally the horse is in a sheltered area where they can be as relaxed as possible without access to food (ie stalled with a buddy nearby if they’re attached to friends).

All That’s Needed
A halter and lead rope is all that’s needed! Owners’ presence is requested for getting first sessions started, and whether or not they remain thereafter is totally up to them.
Exercise and Masterson Method Sessions

Your horse will benefit most from a session at rest. Meaning, they’ve completely cooled down after any scheduled exercise. After a session, it’s best if they get at least the rest of that day off. If exercise is planned for the day after, aim to keep it low key and light if possible. Every horse is different, but it’s not uncommon for them to take a few days to see the most improvement. Healing is hard work!

Other Practitioners
The Masterson Method is excellent adjunct therapy, meaning it meshes well with other modalities. I find it’s particularly helpful a day or three before chiropractic work as it helps the body both accept and “hold” adjustments. If your horse receives other types of bodywork, don’t be afraid to tell me or talk to me about it- I love collaborating!
*The Masterson Method is not a substitute for veterinary care. If your horse is experiencing an acute illness, injury or lameness, clearance from your vet for the horse to receive bodywork may be requested. In the rare case veterinary input is deemed necessary upon arrival or during a session, the session may be postponed or cut short at my discretion.
